Each piece of wood used goes through certain processes before completion. once I’ve found the wood its cleaned and any bark is removed. After some time drying it is then tested for water content before removing any remaining bark or pith left in the grooves, with a tiny needle file. Then I trim and shape the ends so there’s no straight or harsh cuts and it has a natural flow.

The final steps are the sanding down and then the polishing before burnishing. Natural products are used for polishing and the wood is never coloured, stained or lacquered . After applying the polish, the burnishing gives the wood its smoothness and shine. I use a rounded metal edge and apply pressure to push the tiny fibres into the wood and then repeat the process with a lint free cloth to buff it up. This in all is a painstaking process but the finished result is worth it.
